The 8-Step AI Mockup to Tech Pack Workflow
1. Preserve the Original Brief
Save the prompt, reference images, intended customer, target use, fit words and design constraints. Mark which visual elements are essential and which are only inspiration. Confirm that you have the right to use every logo, artwork and reference.
2. Separate Style from Construction
Write down the visible style choices: fitted or oversized, cropped or long, high-rise or mid-rise, smooth or brushed, minimal or heavily decorated. Then list the construction choices the image does not prove: seam type, opening, fastening, lining, pocket support, edge finish and reinforcement.
3. Draw Clean Front, Back and Detail Flats
Create consistent technical views. Every seam, panel, pocket, trim and artwork location should appear in the correct view. Do not ask the factory to infer the back or side construction from one photorealistic image.
4. Build the Bill of Materials
List main fabric, lining, rib, elastic, thread, labels, zippers, drawcords, pads, transfers, embroidery, patches and packaging. Use verified composition, weight and performance data when available. If a value has not been confirmed, label it as open for sourcing instead of inventing it.
5. Lock Measurements, Tolerances and Grading
Define the base size and each point of measurement with arrows and written methods. Add tolerances only after a technical reviewer confirms that they suit the garment and fabric. AI-generated size charts must be checked against a trusted block, reference garment or qualified technical designer.
6. Run a Manufacturability Review

8. Keep One Revision Log and Approve a Control Sample
Record each change, owner, date and result. Replace ambiguous chat messages with one current file. Bulk production should follow the approved sample and signed specifications, not an older render or an untracked AI variation.
